Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-NY, has appointed three new members to the Commission on Legislative, Judicial and Executive Compensation.
The independent body is tasked with examining, evaluating and making recommendations on the salaries of judges, lawmakers and other state officials. Those recommendations become binding unless altered through legislation or – as in the most recent case with the state Legislature – are challenged in court.
The Daily News reported earlier this week that state judges’ raises were in limbo because Cuomo had not yet appointed his three members of the seven member commission.
The governor’s office said that report is now on track. The other four appointees come from the state’s chief judge, the Assembly Speaker and the Senate Majority Leader.
Cuomo’s selections are former state Division of Budget Director and current SUNY COO Bob Megna, former Director of State Operations and current Empire State College President Jim Malatras and Revlon Exeutive Vice President and General Counsel Mitra Hormozi, formerly a Joint Commission on Public Ethics appointee.
